The past 12 months has been an exciting time in One Awards history.  From joining our long-term partners NOCN Group, to new staff becoming part of our growing team.  Here are some of the highlights from 2018.
WELCOME TO THE FAMILY
On the 1st August, One Awards became a subsidiary of NOCN Group.  This move widened the groups offering to the FE market.  NOCN Group now offers Access to HE, regulated qualifications, Functional Skills and End Point Assessments.  Read more
NEW TEAM MEMBERS
In February, we welcomed Fabienne Baily as the new One Awards Managing Director. Fabienne has 18 years’ experience in the education and training sector along with 10 years’ senior management experience within the learning and skills environment and may already know many of you in the sector.    Read more

Roger Guy joined One Awards as our new Senior Business Development Manager in November. Roger brings a wealth of experience in business development from various roles in the further education and welfare to work sectors.  He is keen to visit all of our centres to build on our relationship with you (and will no doubt know many of you already).   Read more
NOCN GROUP TO BUY CPCS FROM CITB

In November, we announced that CITB has agreed to sell its Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) to NOCN Group.  The purchse will include the retention of all CPCS-related CITB jobs in Norfolk, and CPCS-mobile roles.   Read more
ON THE MOVE: THREE MAJOR OFFICE OPENINGS

This year saw NOCN Group staff in Kings Lynn and Sheffield move to new offices, to accomodate our rapidly growing teams.

In April, our new Kings Lynn offices were opened by Sir Henry Bellingham MP.  The Norfolk office form part of our aquisition of constructor sector Awarding Organisation  Cskills Awards, making NOCN one of the largest AO in the UK and the second largest construction AO.  Read more

July saw the launch of NOCN Cymru, with the opening of our first office in Wales.  This new department are dedicaed to providing a tailored service for our Welsh centres and learners.

Finally, Sheffield's Lord Mayor, Magid Magid offically opened the groups new headquarters in September.  NOCN Group has been based in Sheffield for over 30 years and the new offices in the Digital Campus reflect the growth we have recently experienced.   Read more

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

Over the past 12 months, we have grown our worldwide partnerships with a range of projects to share our expertise in qualifications, apprenticeships and assessments.  Our developing markets include India, Greece and America.

In February, Graham Hasting-Evans, NOCN Group MD attended the MoU signing ceremony with the MD of the National Academy of Construction based in Hyderabad, the State of Telangana, and Ravi Raman of STAMP part of IL&FS Group (NOCN partner and Indian national assessment organisation) to discuss the NOCN ‘Big Skills Project’.   Read more
Professor Daniel Khan OBE representing NOCN was invited to speak at a major symposium on TVET in Vietnam in October.  The event, organised by the UK Government agency, the Department of International Trade (DfID), was part of the 75 years’ celebration of the UK and Vietnam working together. The event was opened by the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy for Vietnam, Ed Vaizey MP.  Read more
In November, NOCN were invited to the Transatlantic Apprentice Exchange formun in Missouri, USA.  Our Head of Assesment, Tom Burton reflects on the teams time there in the NOCN Group November blog post.

Finally, One Awards Managing Director, Fabienne Bailey recently visited  Hong Kong as part of the Northern Powerhouse trade mission. The Department of International Trade delegation consisted of 12 innovative and forward-thinking businesses in the Education Sector at the recent Learning and Teaching Expo.    Read more
SKILLS TO DRIVE A PRODUCTIVE SOCIETY

This year we published our 'Skills to Drive a Productive Society' report, written in partnership with the Learning & Work Institute.  The report outlines an inclusive National Skills Strategy which will help productivity grow, improve literacy and numeracy and help to achieve greater social mobility.   Read more

NOCN AND BPEC JOIN FORCES
GRAHAM HASTING-EVANS, NOCN GROUP MD NAMED NEW BACH PRESIDENT 

Our MD, Graham Hasting-Evans was appointed the president of the British Association of Construction Heads (BACH), in July.  BACH members manage the majority of learners studying the construction FE curriculum in the UK.   Read more
